When Tradify is the better choice
Two things it does that Yamate does not:
- Depth for a growing team. Purchase orders, staff timesheets, detailed scheduling and reporting. If you're putting on staff or subbies, that depth earns its keep — it's a serious tool for a serious operation.
- Cross-platform, with strong support. Native apps on iOS and Android as well as the web, and support behind them. That's a real plus.
The catch with Tradify for a one-person business is that you pay per user every month for a feature set largely designed for growing teams. If you'll use that, it's worth it. If you just want the money side sorted, you may be paying for a workshop when you need a toolbox.
Where Yamate wins for a sole trader
- One price per business. The solo plan is $19/mo and includes three people, so there's no per seat maths at the size most tradies work at. Past three, the Company plan is $79/mo for ten people and $15/mo a head after that — still nothing like a per-user price on every hand.
- Less to learn. The whole app is quote → invoice → get paid → chase. You're up and running the same day, not next weekend.
- Auto-chasing built in on every plan, with your PayID or bank details on each invoice so you're paid faster.
- Made for one, not team software with the team bits switched off.
- Works with no signal. Quote in a basement, invoice in the driveway, core records are stored locally on the device, not fetched from a website you have to reach. Exactly what works offline.
- $19/mo while you stay subscribed if you sign up before 30 September 2026 — the price rises after that. No lock-in, cancel anytime.
FAQ
Is there a cheaper alternative to Tradify?
For a solo tradie, Yamate is $19/mo for the business — three people included, no per-seat fee at that size — covering quoting, invoicing, getting paid and auto-chasing. Tradify is priced per user (around A$48–$62/user/month ex GST, as at September 2026), so for a one-person business Yamate is usually the cheaper option.
Does Yamate have everything Tradify does?
No — and that's the point. Yamate deliberately covers the essentials a solo tradie needs (quote, invoice, get paid, chase) without the team features like purchase orders, staff timesheets and advanced reporting. If you need those, Tradify is the better fit.
Can I move from Tradify to Yamate?
Yes. Yamate sets up in minutes, so you can trial it on a few real jobs alongside Tradify before deciding.
