The stuff tradies ask us

Straight answers — including exactly what works today and what's still coming. Being honest is the whole point.

How much does it cost?

Start with a 30-day free trial — everything unlocked, no card needed. Sign up before 30 October 2026 for the Founder plan — $19/month while you stay subscribed. $29/month after. Running a bigger crew? The Company plan is $79/month for ten people, then $15/month each after that, and everyone gets their own login. No lock-in, cancel anytime. Texts are unlimited and included — no per-text charges (subject to a reasonable fair-use policy to prevent abuse; see our Terms). You can also try the demo free, no card, for as long as you like.

What can it actually do today?

Right now: quote jobs (type or speak, with AI drafting the quote from your words — you check and set the final price before sending), send professional invoices, chase payments with reminder texts (one tap or automatic), see who owes you money and what to follow up, schedule one-off or recurring jobs, take a deposit to lock a booking in, and get a GST/EOFY summary (CSV) for your accountant. Customers can reply to your texts right in the app, the booking link you send asks AI-tailored questions for your trade, missed calls can get an automatic text-back with your booking link, and — when secure backup is enabled — your books sync securely across devices. Card payments work today via your own Stripe/Square link (easy setup guide).

Does it work with no signal?

Yes. Yamate runs in the browser on your phone or computer, and core jobs, quotes, invoices, customers and photos can stay available on the device when there's no signal. Things that need the internet — texting a customer, taking a card payment, cloud sync, the AI bits and live lookups like an ABN search — wait until you're connected. The work is still done and saved; it's the sending that waits. More on how that works.

Is my data safe, and do I own it?

By default your books stay on your own device. A few features are opt-in cloud: when you share a quote or invoice link, take a customer request, or turn on account backup, just that data syncs to our secure database (Supabase) so the feature works — locked down so only you (and, for a link, your customer) can read it. Everything else stays on your device. You can back up or export to a file any time, and your data is always yours. (Full detail in our Privacy policy.)

Can you help me get set up?

Yep — that's the whole point of the founder pilot. Start the Founder plan or book setup help and I'll personally set up your first few jobs and invoices with you.

What happens if you put the price up?

Your price doesn't move. Sign up before 30 October 2026 and the Founder plan is $19/month while you stay subscribed — $29/month is what it costs after that date. If we ever change what a new customer pays, you stay on what you signed up for. No lock-in either way: cancel any time and take your data with you.

Does it work with my accountant’s software?

Xero push is live — you can connect Xero and push your invoices, payments and customers across, matched up so you don’t get duplicates. Direct MYOB integration isn’t live, and there’s no import from either. CSV export is available for your GST and EOFY records, which is what most accountants ask for.

Do I need it if I only do one or two invoices a week?

Honestly — maybe not. If a couple of invoices a week is going fine on a free tool or a spreadsheet, that's a real answer. Where Yamate earns its keep is the stuff either side of the invoice: knowing who owes you, chasing it without having to remember, quoting on site instead of at the kitchen table at 9pm, and having the GST and EOFY figures ready for your accountant. If none of that is costing you evenings, you don't need us yet. The 30-day trial is there so you can find out rather than guess.

What trades is it for?

Solo tradies and small crews first — electricians, plumbers, carpenters, mechanics, landscapers, cleaners, you name it. Bigger outfits work too: the Company plan covers ten people with a login each. If you quote jobs and send invoices, Yamate's for you.

Can my crew have their own logins?

Yes. On the Company plan — $79/month for ten people, $15/month each after that — everyone gets their own login, and you choose what each of them sees. Someone on the tools can see their jobs without seeing the books; someone in the office can see more. Solo and small crews stay on the flat price and don't need any of this.

Does it handle licences, insurance and SWMS?

It keeps track of your licences, insurance and tickets and tells you before they lapse, for you and for your crew. It'll also draft a Safe Work Method Statement for a job from what the job actually is. It's a drafting aid — you read it and sign it. Yamate doesn't issue certificates and doesn't lodge anything with a regulator, and the obligation list is starter data we're still checking against each regulator, so treat it as a prompt to check rather than the final word.

What's the chat button for?

That's Ask ya mate. Type a question about using the app — "how do I take a deposit", "help me set up tax" — and it walks you through the right screens. It'll suggest an action and you tap it; it doesn't go off and do things to your books on its own.

How do I get it on my phone?

Yamate runs on both iPhone and Android. Open the app in your browser, and it'll offer to add itself to your home screen — one tap on Android, two on iPhone (Share → Add to Home Screen). From then on it opens full-screen like any other app, and works offline on site.
