hipages review for tradies, is it worth it?

Short answer. hipages charges tradies a monthly subscription from $139 to $649 plus GST, as at September 2026, and you sign up for 6 months first, then it renews for 12. Whether it pays comes down to what each job you win from it costs you, so divide the fee by your wins every month. hipages' strength is steady homeowner demand you didn't have to find.

hipages review, what you pay

Four lead plans, each a monthly fee plus GST that comes with credits. You spend the credits to accept job leads in the postcodes your plan covers.

PlanA monthCreditsPostcodesFirst 6 months
Starter$1391551$834
Advanced$2493103$1,494
Premium$4495955$2,694
Platinum$64985010$3,894

All plus GST. The last column is what the first term commits you to, six times the monthly fee. Businesses with more than 10 employees get Pro at $2,049 a month, and Essentials at $29 is the quoting and invoicing app without any leads.

What a lead costs in credits isn't fixed. hipages sets it by trade, location, job size and supply and demand, and says the credits on a lead "can change anytime until the job is marked as hired". So your fee buys a pile of credits, not a set number of jobs. Run out and you can top up with extra credit packs.

What hipages does well is the demand. Homeowners post the job and hipages sends it to you, with each lead capped at three businesses by hipages' own rule. You don't pay a cut of the job, and its app quotes, invoices and takes card payments.

How long does hipages sign you up for?

Longer than a month. hipages says subscriptions "start on an introductory 6 month term and renew on a 12 month term", and it tells you before the renewal. You can cancel in the seven day cooling off period if you haven't accepted a lead. After that you contact support. You can pause for 14 to 31 days in the first term, and twice or for up to 62 days in total on the 12 month term, with the term pushed out by the pause. Pay a new 12 month term upfront and it's 5% off.

Put the renewal date in your calendar the day you join, and count your jobs before it comes round. That's when the decision is yours.

If a term ever looks one sided, small businesses have the law on their side. A contract you can't negotiate is a standard form contract, and since 9 November 2023 the law has stopped a business proposing, using or relying on unfair terms in one with a small business, which is 100 or fewer employees or under $10 million turnover. The regulator's own example is an advertising contract that rolled over every year, which could be unfair with no notice before it renewed or big fees to cancel after it did. Only a court or tribunal decides a term is unfair.

Is hipages worth it?

Run the month test. Every month, count the leads you accepted, the quotes you sent and the jobs you won, and what hipages cost you, top ups included. The fee divided by the jobs won is what each job cost you to get. Put that beside what you make on a job.

The fee is plus GST. If you're registered for GST you can claim that back as a credit on your BAS, so the before GST figure is close to what it costs you. If you aren't, add the GST.

What do tradies say about hipages?

Look at who wrote a review before you read it. Most hipages reviews come from homeowners who posted a job and got a tradie, and that's a different question from whether the leads paid off for the business. ProductReview asks every reviewer which they were, and its hipages listing shows 3.7 out of 5 from 9,403 reviews, both sides together.

We read the 76 reviews on the first ten pages of that listing, published from March to October 2026, and split them by what each reviewer said they were.

So the tradies who reviewed it were mostly unhappy, and the homeowners mostly happy. The tradie complaints in that sample are about lead cost and quality and about getting out of the term. It's a small sample and people with a grudge review more, so treat it as what to ask about, not a verdict.

hipages publishes its own tradie stories, picked by hipages. Phil Maunder of Fox Mowing and Gardening calls it "more expensive than other lead generating sites we have used".

Your own work without a marketplace

hipages finds the customer and charges you for the chance. The work you find yourself costs less each time. A Google Business Profile shows you in Maps and search for nothing, a past customer you text when their next job is due costs a text, and a referral costs a thank you. First customers without an ad budget goes through each one.

Yamate runs a free directory too. A listing costs nothing and can't cost you a lead fee, so treat it as one more place your name is right and easy to reach, not a replacement for your Google Business Profile.

Leaving hipages

Do the sums before the renewal, then tell hipages in writing if you're going. Before you stop, save the contact details of every customer you won through it, they're your customers now. For what each plan really costs a month and what else is out there, see hipages lead cost and the alternatives.

Yamate sells software to tradies and runs a free directory. This page and its sum are free and ask for nothing.

General information, not tax advice and not legal advice. hipages sets and changes its prices and terms, so read its current terms before you sign. GST figures are estimates, and you lodge your own BAS.
