We're biased and we'll say so: we make Yamate, and we run a competing free directory. Every hipages figure below is dated and sourced at the foot, and the table names what they beat us on.

Credits are the part that decides what you actually pay. A lead costs credits, and what a lead costs moves with the trade and with demand, so the same plan buys a different number of jobs in a quiet month than a busy one. Work out your cost per job won, not your cost per lead. A lead you quote and lose costs the same as one you win.
These figures are as reported in July 2026 and hipages does not publish a public price list, so confirm the current numbers with them before you sign anything.
Read the contract before the price
The reported structure is a six month introductory term that then auto-renews for twelve months, with an early termination fee if you don't opt out in time. That is the part that catches people, not the monthly figure.
This is not us being cynical about a competitor. The ACCC accepted a court-enforceable undertaking from hipages Group Pty Ltd on 28 May 2023, after hipages admitted it likely engaged in misleading or deceptive conduct by failing to adequately disclose the terms allowing automatic renewal and an early termination fee, between October 2018 and January 2022. It's on the ACCC's public register, linked at the foot, and it is worth ten minutes before you commit to a year.
When hipages is the better choice
Three things it does that we do not, and the first one is the big one:
It sends real leads, at volume, today
That is the whole product and it works. Our directory is new and the enquiry flow through it is small. If you need jobs in the next fortnight, a marketplace that already has homeowner traffic will beat anything you build yourself, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.
Homeowners know the name
People search "hipages" directly. Brand recognition with the customer side is worth real money and it takes years to build.
Starting cold, it beats waiting
With no reviews, no website and no referral network, paid leads get you working while the slower things build. Expensive is not the same as wrong.

Where Yamate fits
We're not a lead marketplace and we're not trying to become one. We run a free directory of Australian trade businesses, and we make the quoting and invoicing software behind it.

If you're leaving, do these three first
- Check your renewal date before you cancel anything. The exit window is the thing that costs money, not the decision.
- Get your reviews somewhere you own. Ask past customers for a Google review. Reviews on a platform stay on the platform.
- Write down your past customers. Names, numbers, what you did. Repeat work from someone who already trusts you is cheaper than any lead anyone will sell you.

Is a free tradie directory listing worth having?
It costs nothing and it cannot cost you a lead fee, so the only real question is whether anyone finds you through it. Treat a free listing as one more place your name is correct and reachable, not as a replacement for a Google Business Profile, which is the listing that shows in Maps and search.
