Fresha alternatives in Australia
Most Fresha alternatives swap one booking app for another. The bookings are the easy part to replace. What costs a salon owner the evenings is everything after the client pays, so this table puts both sides in.

A marketplace with no new client fee
Fresha's marketplace charges 20% of a new client's first booking, at least A$8, and its own rules let that fee land on clients who found you through Google or Instagram after a look at your Fresha profile. Our Fresha fees page reads those rules and what owners say about them.
Spruce is our marketplace for salons, barbers, nail and beauty businesses. Every Yamate Studio business that takes bookings online can show on it, at no cost on top of its plan. There's no fee for a new client and no commission, and the client is yours from their first booking. If you'd like the extra pull, you can give Spruce clients 10% off their 1st booking with you and every 3rd one after it, the 4th, the 7th and on. It's off unless you switch it on.
Spruce is new. Fresha's marketplace has years of clients behind it and Spruce has far fewer salons on it so far, so count Spruce as a free extra, not as your marketing.
The money side, in the same app
This is the part a booking app hands to a bookkeeper. In Yamate Studio it sits behind the same login as your diary.
- Bank matching. Connect your bank and payments and expenses match themselves, so the end of the month is a check, not a night of ticking.
- Tax set aside as money lands. Each payment shows what to put away for tax, an estimate, not tax advice.
- Pay runs. PAYG withholding and super worked out for each pay, with payslips and the bank file to pay your team. Yamate prepares it and you lodge it yourself.
- GST and end of year summaries as a file for your accountant, and invoices, payments and customers pushed across to Xero.
- Expenses with receipt photos, so your products and rent are in the books the day you buy them.
Fresha's pay runs move wages, commission and tips into your team's Fresha wallets. Its help centre says you make "any manual adjustments to the team member's earnings, including taxes and deductions", and the article doesn't mention super or PAYG withholding.

What your month costs
The plan is the small part of a salon's bill. Card fees grow with every booking, and on Fresha so do new clients from the marketplace. On Yamate a client can pay by PayTo, and the fee stops growing at A$3.50 however big the booking. Put your own month into the Fresha fees calculator. It works out Fresha's month from its own pricing page and the same month on Yamate, paid by PayTo, beside it.
When Fresha is the better choice
Fresha's booking side is good, and owners say so. Most of the 4 and 5 star reviews of its business app praise how easily clients book and the reminder texts.

If most of your new clients really do come from Fresha's marketplace, the fee is buying you something Spruce can't yet. Fresha also connects to QuickBooks as well as Xero, and Yamate pushes to Xero only. And if your team likes being paid into a Fresha wallet, Yamate pays them from your own bank, with a bank file you upload.
Moving from Fresha
Export before you cancel, because Fresha removes your access when the plan ends. Fresha says "Access to your workspace will be removed, and your marketplace profile will be unlisted."
- Download your client list from Fresha's Clients list as Excel or CSV, and your appointments too.
- Bring the client list into Yamate Studio, and set up your services, prices and hours.
- Ask clients to add their card again when they next book. Fresha says saved cards "cannot be exported or transferred".
- When your new booking link is working, cancel in Fresha's Settings, Billing, Subscriptions.
