Moving to Yamate › MYOB, QuickBooks, Fergus or Simpro

How to export your data from MYOB, QuickBooks, Fergus or Simpro

What to click, from each app’s own help pages. Checked 6 October 2026.

MYOB

Before you start: You need the Administrator or Accountant/Bookkeeper role.

Customer cards

  1. Go to File → Import/Export Assistant.
  2. Choose Export data, then Next.
  3. Pick Customer cards from the Export list, then Next.
  4. Choose comma-separated, keep the header row, then Next.
  5. Click Add All so every field comes across, then Export and save the file.

Sales

  1. Same steps, picking Sales (service and item sales, one file each).
  2. MYOB puts a blank row between sales — Yamate reads that.

Payments received

  1. Same steps, picking Receive payments.

Purchases

  1. Same steps, picking Purchases. Keep the word purchases in the file name.

Supplier cards

  1. Same steps, picking Supplier cards.

Items

  1. Same steps, picking Items.

Accounts list

  1. Same steps, picking Accounts list.

These are the AccountRight steps. If you use MYOB Business in a web browser, the menu is different.

Can’t come across: Attachments, Payroll history (it belongs to the software that reported it).

QuickBooks

Before you start: You need the admin login.

Everything in one go

  1. Click the gear (Settings) → Export data.
  2. On Lists, turn on Customers, Suppliers, Products and services and Chart of accounts.
  3. On Reports, turn on the invoice and bill lists you want.
  4. Click Export to Excel. You get one .zip file — drop the .zip in as it is.

Can’t come across: Attachments, Payroll history.

Fergus

Customers

  1. Open Customers, then the dropdown at the top right, and export your customers. You get a CSV file.

Customer invoices

  1. Tap Reports at the top right and open Customer Invoice Report.
  2. Tap the download button at the top right of the report for a CSV. It has the invoice number, payment status and total including tax.

Open jobs

  1. Tap Reports and open the WIP Report (work in progress). Download it as CSV.

Not checked yet, so not shown: Quotes, Price book.

Can’t come across: Job notes and photos, Bundles and kits.

Simpro

Before you start: Your login needs the export and report permissions (System → Setup → Security Groups).

Customers

  1. Go to Export → Customers.
  2. Choose CSV, tick Customer Details, and set the customer type to All.

Suppliers

  1. Go to Export → Suppliers and choose CSV.

Catalogue

  1. Go to Export → Catalogue, pick Export All Pricing Tiers, then export.

Sales invoices

  1. Go to Reports → View Reports → Sales → Invoices.
  2. Search by Date Issued, set the dates to cover every invoice, pick No Filter, then Search.
  3. Click the icon at the top right, then CSV.

Open jobs (not yet invoiced)

  1. Go to Reports → View Reports → Jobs → Billing Run (Uninvoiced Jobs).
  2. Set the created dates to cover every open job, then Search.
  3. Click the icon at the top right, then CSV.

Can’t come across: Notes, attachments and forms.

Then bring it into Yamate

  1. Open Yamate and go to Settings → Your data → Import data. New accounts are asked once, after the welcome.
  2. Drop all the files in at once — CSV, Excel or ZIP. They are read on your phone or computer.
  3. Check the tick-list. Owed invoices stay owed, paid ones count as paid, and nothing you already have is changed.
  4. Tap Add. Anything you untick is left out.
