Emergency Roof Repair

If a storm has left your roof open, badly damaged or leaking significantly, get everyone clear of danger and call your state SES on 132 500; call 000 for immediate danger. For an urgent private repair, contact a roofing business directly and confirm it can attend your suburb. The local listings below are roofers to ask, not a confirmed emergency roster. Online quote requests are for work that can wait.

Do not climb onto a wet or damaged roof. Keep clear of fallen powerlines, unstable ceilings and wet electrical fittings.

When should I call the SES instead?

State emergency services in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and the ACT list damaged or significantly leaking roofs among storm situations for 132 500. SES help is temporary make-safe assistance, not a permanent roof replacement or a private contractor booking. For immediate danger, call 000. Follow the advice for your state or territory if you are elsewhere.

Stay away from damaged roof sections, fallen powerlines, wet electrical fittings and ceilings that may fail. Do not climb a roof, try to attach a tarp, or enter a damaged roof space. Take photos only from a safe place if you can.

If you rent or the building is managed, contact the property manager or owners corporation’s emergency contact as well. Let your insurer know about the damage and ask what records it needs before permanent work proceeds.

How to ask a roofer for urgent help

The cards above are current Yamate roofing-category results near your available location or chosen suburb. They are not an emergency roster. Use the public Call action where available or the current website link to ask the business directly whether it takes urgent roof work, covers your exact address, and can attend safely in the weather. Availability and response time are not verified by Yamate.

Ask what the first visit includes, whether it is inspection, temporary protection or repair, and what callout or after-hours charges apply. Tell the business about the roof material and visible damage from the ground. Ask it to explain who handles any regulated roof-plumbing work or other work outside its scope.

If urgent help is not required, select the eligible businesses you want to quote and send one enquiry with the optional answers and your confirmed suburb. The request flow can wait for replies; it does not dispatch a roofer or reserve a time.

Separate make-safe work from the final repair

NSW SES says its volunteers provide temporary help to keep a property safe, while permanent repairs belong with an insurer or private contractor. Ask a roofer to describe the cause found, the proposed permanent work, materials, access and exclusions in writing. Temporary covering should not be mistaken for a completed repair.

Check whether gutters, flashing, roof covering, internal ceiling repair or electrical work need separate scopes. A roofer should assess the roof type and tell you when another appropriately qualified trade is required. Agree the total and any extra-work approval process before permanent work starts.

For a roof that leaked after rain without urgent damage, use the rain-leak problem page. For a known repair that can be planned, the roof-leak repair owner will be the more focused path.

    Good questions. Plain answers.

Does Yamate send an emergency roofer?

No. Phone a business directly and confirm attendance. An online quote request is for work that can wait; it does not book or dispatch urgent help.

Who do I call after storm roof damage?

For major storm damage or a significantly leaking roof, call your state SES on 132 500. Call 000 for immediate danger. Contact a private roofer for the permanent repair once it is safe.

Are all listed roofers available 24 hours?

No such claim is made. These are live roofing-category matches. Ask each business whether it offers urgent work, covers your suburb and can attend now.

Should I request a temporary fix or a permanent repair?

Tell the business what is happening now. Ask it to distinguish assessment, temporary protection and permanent repair in the written scope and price.

Can I request quotes from several roofers?

Yes, for work that can wait for replies. Select eligible cards, review the recipients and send one request with your answers and confirmed suburb.
