Bookkeepers for tradies in Australia

Five Australian bookkeepers who work with trade businesses, not with a slightly muddier version of a cafe. Read off their own sites in August 2026.

Solo tradie who wants one named person: Tradies Bookkeeping. Growing crew who needs the admin lifted too: OfficeShed. Books and tax from one firm: Future Advisory. Melbourne local with a published price: Clients Needs Bookkeeping, from $100 a month. Past the solo stage, wanting higher level financial help: Tradies Accountant.

How we picked these five

Nobody paid to be here and there are no affiliate links on this page. Each one's own website says trade businesses are a specialty, each is independently run rather than a franchise, and each was read in August 2026. What we looked for is a bookkeeper who has already seen the shape: a ute and a trailer to depreciate, tools bought at 7am on a personal card, subcontractors who need TPAR reporting, and progress claims that land in a different quarter to the work.

Three are established firms we link to because a tradie searching for this should find them. The other two are smaller operators we contacted for permission before adding a link, which is why their names are not links yet.

Every cell read off each firm's own site in August 2026. Prices in AUD.

1 · Tradies Bookkeeping — Sydney, and remote Australia-wide

Run by Bettina, a bookkeeper with more than 20 years behind her, working with tradies across Greater Sydney and nationally through cloud accounting. BAS compliance, Xero, invoicing, bill tracking and payroll.

Best for: a solo tradie or small crew who wants one named person who knows the trade, not a call centre. tradiesbookkeeping.com.au
Skip it if: you want a team behind the name rather than one bookkeeper.

2 · OfficeShed — remote, Australia-wide

A team of qualified Australian bookkeepers working entirely remotely, and trades and services businesses are the only kind they take. Bank reconciliations, payroll, BAS and general admin support.

Best for: a growing crew that needs admin lifted as well as the books done. officeshed.com.au
Skip it if: you want someone who can sit in your office, because they work entirely remotely.

3 · Future Advisory — Melbourne, Sunshine Coast and remote

Co-founded and directed by Greg Bramich FCPA, with offices in Melbourne CBD, Cremorne, Narre Warren and the Sunshine Coast. Bookkeeping for trade businesses alongside tax planning, compliance guidance and regular financial health checks.

Best for: a trade business that wants bookkeeping and tax advice from a single firm. futureadvisory.com.au
Skip it if: you only want the books kept and nothing built around them.

4 · Clients Needs Bookkeeping — Langwarrin, Melbourne

Run by Matthew Powell out of Langwarrin on the Mornington Peninsula, specialising in trade clients. BAS lodgements, payroll, superannuation, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and TPAR. Xero and MYOB.

Best for: a Melbourne tradie who wants a local with published prices. Packages start at $100 a month under $100,000 turnover and $150 a month above it, with payroll from $40 a month per employee.
Skip it if: you are nowhere near the Mornington Peninsula and want someone local to you.

5 · Tradies Accountant — Kangaroo Point QLD and Kew VIC

Full-service bookkeeping built for trade and construction businesses, from two offices, one in Kangaroo Point in Brisbane and one in Kew in Melbourne. Invoicing, payroll, BAS, tax planning, financial statements and outsourced CFO work, with Xero, MYOB and Employment Hero integrations.

Best for: a trade business past the solo stage that wants bookkeeping and higher level financial help from the same team.
Skip it if: you want a price before you make contact, because they do not publish one.

Five questions to ask before you hire one

Ask how many trade clients they have right now, because the answer is either a number or a pause. Ask whether they lodge your BAS or only prepare it. Ask whether TPAR is included or extra, since it catches people out every August. Ask what a shoebox costs, because some charge catch-up rates and some will not take you at all. Ask what software they expect you to use, before you buy it.

The pick, in one line

Want a number before you ring anyone, start with Clients Needs Bookkeeping at $100 a month. Want one person who knows your name, Tradies Bookkeeping. Want books, tax and planning from one team, Future Advisory or Tradies Accountant.

Get your books into a state worth paying for

A bookkeeper charges by the mess. Quotes and invoices that already exist as records, with GST split out and payments matched, cost less to process than a folder of photos. That part is yours, and it is what Yamate does — quoting, invoicing, chasing payment and GST estimates from the phone, then a one way push of invoices into Xero. It does not replace a bookkeeper and it is not tax advice. It just means they are reconciling instead of transcribing.

FAQ

Do I need a bookkeeper or an accountant?

Different jobs. A bookkeeper keeps the records straight through the year and usually handles BAS. An accountant does the tax return and the structuring. Plenty of tradies use both, and several firms on this list do both.

What does a tradie bookkeeper cost in Australia?

The published figures on this page start at $100 a month for a small turnover, with payroll charged per employee on top. Most firms quote after looking at your volume, so the honest answer is that it depends on how many invoices and how many staff.

Can a bookkeeper fix a year of unsorted receipts?

Usually yes, and usually at a catch-up rate that is higher than the ongoing one. Ask for that number up front rather than at the end.

How were these five chosen?

Their own websites say trade businesses are a specialty, they are independently run rather than franchises, and each was read in August 2026 before being listed. Nobody paid to appear and there are no affiliate links.
