Shower Regrouting

Shower regrouting removes damaged or tired grout from the visible joints and replaces it with suitable grout.     What is included in shower regrouting?

    A regrouting quote should state which wall or floor joints will be cleared, what material replaces the grout, how tiles and fixtures are protected, and when the shower can be used again. Ask how the business handles cracked joints, loose tiles and changes of plane; those details can alter the scope.

    Regrouting is work on the visible tile joints. Shower waterproofing is a separate system beneath or behind finishes. The National Construction Code requires waterproofing of shower floors, walls and junctions, so a surface-grout quote must not be treated as proof that a hidden water path is fixed.

    When to investigate before regrouting

    If water appears in the next room, through a wall or below the shower, use the shower-leak guide first. Ask a plumber or waterproofing specialist to identify the source and provide a written finding. A tiler can then quote any grout or tile work that is actually needed.

    If the only visible issue is worn or stained grout and no water is escaping, a tiler can assess the existing finish and recommend the appropriate preparation. Persistent mould or recurring cracking may require more than cleaning and new grout; ask the business what it found rather than assuming a cause.

    Is shower regrouting the same as waterproofing?

    No. Regrouting renews visible tile joints. Waterproofing is a separate wet-area system; leaking into another room needs investigation before a surface repair is chosen.

    Can a tiler quote from photos?

    Photos help describe the area, but the tiler may need to inspect loose tiles, movement and existing joints before giving a final scope.

    How soon can I use the shower after regrouting?
