Preparation affects the finish
Photograph the surfaces from a safe position and note old coatings, rot, cracks and wet areas. Ask painters to inspect before specifying washing, scraping, repairs, primer and coats; avoid promising one treatment for every substrate.
For older homes, ask the contractor how it will assess and manage any hazardous old coating.
Compare exterior painting quotes
Ask for included surfaces, preparation, coatings and colours, height access, weather allowances, protection, cleanup, warranty terms and GST. Roof coating and fence painting should be priced separately if wanted.
