Where these driveway price ranges come from
The bands above reproduce Karven’s Australian residential driveway estimates, updated 5 June 2026 and checked by Yamate on 27 September 2026. They describe supplied and laid prices per square metre, including GST, for four finishes. They are a published guide, not a survey of Yamate invoices, a guaranteed local rate or a quote from a listed business.
The published range does not cover every part of replacing an existing driveway. Karven’s worked example shows how removal and preparation can lift the total. We display the source’s bands unchanged rather than multiplying one rate by an assumed area and presenting that as your site price. Ask a concreter to measure the work and itemise inclusions.
These are national figures. Labour, concrete delivery, access, ground conditions and job size can make a local quote different. Check the source link in the price block and ask each business for a current written price including GST.
What should a concrete driveway quote include?
Ask for the area, finish, concrete specification, reinforcement, base preparation, formwork, control joints and curing or sealing in the written scope. If there is an old driveway, identify demolition, disposal and any making-good work separately. A low per-square-metre figure is hard to compare if these items are missing.
Clarify whether drainage, the fall away from buildings, the roadside crossover and any council requirements are included. Your council can explain its requirements for the crossover. The concreter should assess the site before confirming what work and approvals apply.
Compare the total including GST, exclusions, start date and how unexpected ground conditions will be discussed and approved. Ask who is responsible for site access, waste removal and protecting nearby surfaces.

Why might my quote be outside the range?
A slope, difficult access, ground preparation, removal of an old driveway, drainage, crossover work or a small job can change the total. The source bands are estimates for Australian residential work, not a site price.
Is exposed aggregate more expensive than plain concrete?
The source’s exposed-aggregate band is higher than its plain-grey band. Ask for both finishes against the same measured area and scope if you want to compare them.
