Rough-in plumbing is the supply, waste and drainage work installed before walls, floors or cabinets are finished. A licensed plumber should use your plans and fixture locations to confirm pipe routes, access, testing and the later fit-off.     What is included in a plumbing rough-in?

    Rough-in normally puts water supply, waste and drainage routes in place before finishes conceal them. The exact sequence depends on the build, drawings and site conditions. A plumber should review fixture positions, access, fall and coordination with other trades before a final scope is agreed. Do not assume a kitchen tap or toilet fit-off is included in a rough-in price.

    Renovation plumbing businesses commonly distinguish rough-in from later fit-off. Give the plumber the plans and builder’s timing, then ask which inspections, tests, photographs or certificates are required before walls or floors close. If work has already begun, say what is exposed and who has done earlier stages.
