In Queensland electrical licensing sits with the Electrical Safety Office inside WorkSafe Queensland, not the QBCC. Its page is blunt: it is illegal to do electrical work in Queensland without a licence, and for the public, only an electrical contractor can do electrical work in your home. Doing the work and running the business are two tickets. There are six classes of electrical work licence, including electrical mechanic, electrical fitter and restricted electrical work. On top of that, a business must hold an electrical contractor licence to perform electrical work for others as a sole trader, partnership or company. After the job, electrical contractors must give the customer a certificate of testing and compliance for installation work, or a certificate of testing and safety for work on equipment, as soon as possible after the work is complete. What to ask before you say yes
